A few months ago, a close family friend died. It was tragic and unexpected. Today was one of the services. There have been several memorials that have been instrumental in grieving process. It was very beautiful and I was really touched by the many beautiful things that people had to say. One of the most striking messages was the importance of being empathetic towards man, despite your inner trials. One way that I think that this is possible, is to wake up each morning with a clean slate. It is easy to let your trials define you. But they don’t have to. They can instead, be a point or bridge that connects you to other areas of life, and it is important to take these opportunities when they present themselves. I like to read this to myself so that I can remember that however small are larger the obstacles that are infront of me, looking back will not help me overcome them.
“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” – Emerson
